How to style a pastel saree this festive season

The soiree season is upon us! With Onam, Navaratri, Diwali and a number of weddings to attend, we’ve got more than one reason to wear our beautiful sarees. Over the past few years, Pastel Sarees have proved that are perfect for any occasion. Although at first sight, they may suggest otherwise, pastel shades have a warmth that makes it hard to not love them. In today’s blog, we will walk you through a few tips on how to style your pastel saree.

Evening wear sarees

Crepe, satin, chikankari, Organza or Georgette Sarees in mellow pastel hues with delicate and dainty blooms or embroidery work, are a great pick to wear for evening parties. Pair the saree with a simple sleeveless blouse with a back tie-up and a deep U neck or V neck. A halter neck blouse will also complement these sarees beautifully. Leave the pallu gracefully hanging over your shoulder and do not pleat it. You can accessorize with pearls, diamonds or any Stone Work Jewellery. A sleek and smart ponytail or open hair with curls will add a tinge of glamour to the overall look.

Kanjivaram Sarees

A favourite amongst the millennial brides, pastel colour Kanjivaram Silks has an understated elegance. Unlike a few bold shades, pastel silk sarees blend well with gold, copper as well as silver zari ornamentation. If you are the bride,  you can style your pastel Kanjivaram silk saree with an elbow-length blouse and minimal aari work. If you are a bridesmaid, guest or simply wearing one for this Diwali, you can experiment with a peter pan blouse style in a Rich Raw Silk Blouse Material. There are three types of looks you can achieve with a pastel silk saree. You can go for a monochrome look (same colour saree and blouse), mix pastels for a subtle yet bold look ( eg: pale pink with lavender blouse), pair with brights to add a little edge to the softness of the pastels (eg: pastel pink saree with a fuchsia pink blouse). Finally, you can accessorize with temple jewellery, meenakari sets or diamonds.

Banarasi Sarees

Banarasi Sarees are usually worn in vibrant colours such as red, maroon, deep blue and bottle green. But it is not surprising that they have also embraced the pastel trend lending their beautiful fabric as a canvas for various motifs from the holy town. Simply pair your rich Banarasi weaves with a sleeveless or elbow-length blouse. You can also complement the drape with a contrasting colour banarasi woven dupatta. When it comes to picking the right jewellery, you can explore Kundan Chokers or gold jewellery with a dull finish. Complete the look with a half bun hairstyle adorned with jasmine flowers which will add a traditional touch. If you are going for a contemporary look, a classic fish braid or open hair are a few fantastic options.
